Designed in 1864 by eminent architect E. M. Barrie — whose father designed the Houses of Parliament — this grade ll listed Victorian Railway Hotel has been been completely refurbished while retaining the 19th century elegance.
Accommodation
The hotel offers 239 guestrooms in a fully renovated six-story building dating from 1864. Decor is either contemporary, with pine furnishings and Art Deco lamps, or traditional, with floral fabrics, dark-wood furnishings. Walls are decorated with etchings depicting Victorian London. Rooms include high-speed internet access, television with cable channels and pay movies, laptop-compatible safes, trouser presses, irons and ironing boards. The tiled bathrooms have granite vanities, designer toiletries and radio/TV speakers with volume control.
Bars & Restaurants
There are several onsite restaurants for your dining pleasure and convenience. The Strand Lounge is a beautiful high-ceilinged traditional Victorian lounge offering 24-hour service in a very relaxed atmosphere. Comotion Brew Shop is a modern informal cafe and bar offering light breakfasts, lunch and coffee.
